With a population of more than 225,000 residents, Chula Vista is the second largest community in San Diego. Chula Vista experienced huge growth during and after World War II. With the relocation of Rohr Aircraft Corporation to the area, Chula Vista's landscape was permanently altered, especially after the attack on Pearl Harbor and America's entrance into the war. Because so many of the servicemen and factory workers stayed in Chula Vista after the war, the area had to accommodate to this population and various schools, restaurants, and shopping centers were opened in the area.
