La Mesa, known as “Jewel of the Hills” is a community that lies about 10 miles east of Downtown San Diego. La Mesa is south west of El Cajon and northeast of Lemon Grove. La Mesa was incorporated on February 16, 1912 and as of the 2000 census, had a population of 54,749 residents. La Mesa is home to the Thursday Night Car Show as well as a weekly Farmers’ Market. The Thursday Night Car Show takes place during the summer time and classic cars line the streets of La Mesa Boulevard.
