Scripps Ranch, California

Scripps Ranch is both a coastal and inland community located in the north eastern part of San Diego. Originally a 400 acre ranch owned by newspaper publisher E.W. Scripps, he later expanded the area to 1,200 acres. Every Forth of July, Scripps Ranch celebrates America and its independence with a parade. Scripps Ranch is located east of Interstate 15, North of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and South of Poway. Miramar Reservoir is located within Scripps Ranch and offers recreational boating and fishing. A unique feature of Scripps Ranch is its landscaping which includes an abundance of mature Eucalyptus trees. According to the San Diego County Assessor's Office's 2008 estimates, there were 32,476 people residing in the neighborhood, an increase of 15.9% from 2000. Scripps Ranch has over 10,000 community members age 50 and above.

Residents of Scripps Ranch use the county court houses that are located in San Diego. The Madge Bradley Building located at 1409 4th Avenue hears probate and family law. The Family Court building downtown is made up of six courtrooms at the 1555 6th Avenue location and two courtrooms at the Madge Bradley Building. These Courts both have jurisdiction over all cases involving dissolutions of marriage, child support and child custody and visitation issues.
